Setting Yourself Up For Success

Today's blog is inspired by an email that went out to my lovely little group of ladies in my trial group. It was all about change and setting yourself up for success. As we all know, starting something new is always a challenge especially when it comes to change . . . BUT . . . We know, the road to success usually starts with us changing something.

We are forever thinking about how we can change, to be better at something or do something less/more often, change our attitude, change our behavior.

Most of the time we will try to change everything all at once and that is very hard to stick to long term, most people last about 3-4 days before the motivation and self control starts to wear off and 'bad' habits slowly creep back in, if we are lucky we might make it through 3-4 weeks. I know from my own experiences, I can do really well for a max of 4 weeks before boredom kicks in and I need to change things up again, create a new plan or I will fall right off that wagon and end up worse off than I was before I started.

When we want to change we need to make new priorities, and I think it was perfect timing to see a post pop up on Facebook yesterday about priorities. We make time for the things that are important to us, so throughout the next 4 weeks I have a little challenge for you!

Each time you feel yourself saying "I don't have time" - especially when it comes to entering your food, or keeping on track with your planning - I want you to replace that thought with "It's not important to me" or "it's not a priority" and see how it makes you feel.

Example: Tuesday night when you hear your notification to enter your food into the diary, you might feel yourself think, "argh! I don't have time right now" Change that thought to "My health is not important to me, it's not a priority"

I bet it will make you think and feel a little different!

I have been trying this myself and Oh Boy! Does it make a difference when you know what your end goal is and you say to yourself its not important. Another thing I have really found that has been helping me get set up for success if affirmations - there's a whole new blog coming up about that so keep an eye out - Each morning before you get out of bed, take a moment to visualize your day and pick a couple of sentences that you know will inspire you. For this instance you could visualize a nice calm day, things going to plan and say to yourself "I am strong, I am able, my health IS important to me"

My fave sentence to say to myself is "I am strong, I am able, I am healthy. Today, each time I make a healthy choice, it will make me stronger and more able to stick to my plan" ... Might feel weird at first, but give it a go for a couple days to a week, I bet you will start to feel a tonne better.

Setting yourself up for success all comes down to mindset, the mind is a powerful thing, and even though sometimes we may feel like we cannot control it, with a little progress each day we can achieve anything! So, what do ya say? Will you give it a go?

Let me know in the comments how you got on!
